From November all the way through April and into May, Deep Canyon Tennis Club is one of the most active of Desert Communities.
It's a place where neighbors know their neighbors and friendships often spring up fast and can last for decades.
On a normal day, lots of folks engage in tennis, play pickleball, take a hike, go off to play golf, gather for cards or workout and take a swim.
Social functions and tennis gatherings abound as planned activities. Cocktails, dinners and a host of other gatherings are always popping up.
It's a place where so much of this happens through the efforts of volunteers who run tennis functions, plan and throw parties and share in community decision making.
And, if someone needs assistance it's a place where all you have to do is ask and someone is there to help.
IT ALL BEGAN IN THE EARLY 1970s!
Deep Canyon Tennis Club came out of the ground starting in 1974. It was built at a time when land was dirt cheap, hence there is an abundance of green space that spreads through this 36 acre property featuring 350 condo units in 90 buildings.
About half of these units feature 3 Bedrooms and 2 Baths in just under 1,200 SqFt. Half of these are on ground level and the others are second floor built above carports.
The remainder are 2 Bedroom units. The majority of these have 2.5 Baths, but there are some with 2 Baths and a number with 1.5 Baths.
Community facilities include an ample-sized clubhouse that's home to many social and after tennis gatherings and even an annual Cabaret performance. There's also a workout room and a Tennis pro shop as well.
As you might guess, tennis is king at Deep Canyon were 12 courts get a long daily workout that includes a full array of social and competitive play.
Pickleball as a growing activity is coming on strong on 6 courts designated for the game. It's a Pickleball playing area that is the envy of players from visiting clubs who come here for enjoyable play and social interaction.
Swimming and relaxing around 12 pools with 4 spas spread around the property is popular all year round.
There's even a golf practice green and shuffleboard to enjoy with the grandkids. Plus, there's lots of grass area to toss a frisbe, kick a soccer ball around or put up a croquet set.
And, most recently, the club is in the final stages of completing a regulation Bocce court. It probably won't be long before teams and leagues are formed up to enjoy this new recreational offering.
