You can work on your putting and your chipping at Deep Canyon, but to play golf you have to go off property.
Two times a year, some 64 Deep Canyon Golfers do this in scrambling fashion. A Fall and a Spring "Scramble Tournament" bring out players of all skill levels for a day of fun on an area golf course.
Fortunately, for those who like to play more frequently, there is lots to select from in beautiful area golf courses. And, at some pretty favorable rates, too.
There is one tremendous benefit for a golfer who is a resident of Palm Desert. That is access to the famed Desert Willow Golf Resort at resident rates of just $45 per round. Can you believe that outsiders often pay up to $180 per round at Desert Willow. It offers not just one, but 2 gorgeous and challenging desert style golf links.
Another favorite that's located only minutes from Deep Canyon is Shadow Mountain Golf Course. This course is the oldest in Palm Desert and was thoughtfully designed but Master's Champion Gene Sarazen in 1959. Accuracy is rewarded over brute strength as is putting expertise on smooth and fast greens. A round costs $55, but every 5th you play is free.
There is no shortage of golf in the Palm Desert area and many other courses offer special resident rates to local property owners.
If you are looking for a real challenge over picturesque terrain, give The Classic Club a go. This course was designed to provide a real test to tour professions and appeared in the rotation of the Bob Hope Desert Classic for three years. Pick your day carefully to play as it's been known to be a "bit windy" out there. It's another $45 golf outing plus $15 in required food purchase that you will probably need for rejuvination purposes after the course has provided a day of exercise or brought you to your knees.

Spend 3 months in the desert and you won't be able to play all the courses located in the valley or nearby. Unless you double up and start playing 36 holes a day, that is.
